For the past two years Red Agency has promoted the National Disability Awards and International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) on behalf of the Federal Government Department of Families, Housing, Community and Indigenous Affairs (FaHCSIA).

The awards and IDPwD, which is a United Nations sanctioned event, are designed to change the general public’s attitude towards those with a disability.
One in five Australians either has a disability or works in the disability sector. In 2009 promotion of the program revolved mainly around traditional media but in 2010 the focus has been on Social Media.
Red Agency was set a target of increasing the number of Facebook followers from 1,509 to 4,000 and establishing a Twitter following of 400 people. The deadline for these targets was December 3.
On December 3, there were 4050 Facebook followers and 1,384 Twitter followers. Red Agency has been able to achieve these results by finding and uploading interesting content to both the Facebook page and through Twitter.
Red Agency has also promoted the awards and IDPwD through the 2010 ambassadors:
• Paralympian Kurt Fearnley
• Blind adventurer Gerard Gossens, who was also on last year’s Dancing with the Stars program
• Controversial commentator Catherine Deveny
• Mouth artist Bill Mooney
